Aspect was an Augmented Reality art gallery app which allowed users to visit a physical art gallery and then view animated or interactive versions of an artist’s work by holding their device up to the physical image.
As Head of Development at Draw & Code and working in collaboration with local artists, I led the development of the Aspect app and its content pipeline. Integrating with Vuforia to provide the AR capabilities of the Unity app allowed us to use the artists’ work as unique image markers, and then build animations and interactivity which were loaded dynamically whenever a supported image was viewed by the user’s device.
Content could be delivered dynamically, or bundled with the app itself for offline use, using Asset Bundles (Addressables didn’t exist at the time, meaning our content delivery system needed much more custom work than we would need today!).
